Leading ‘Militaria’ expert joins Silverwoods Team

New appointments service announced

Joining Silverwoods’ 10-strong team of valuers and auctioneers is renowned Militaria expert, James Thompson. After a career with HM Forces James now specialises in valuing and appraising a wide range of military-related antiques and collectable items, including war and gallantry medals, memorabilia from local regiments, uniforms, ‘trench art’ and antique weaponry.

Silverwoods has also announced a new appointments system for specialist and large collections. Appointments can be made with experts at Silverwoods’ saleroom on Fridays between 10 a.m and 4.00 p.m for potentially valuable collections of glass, ceramics, jewellery, militaria, books, wines and spirits, stamps, coins, furniture, precious metals, clocks and paintings among many others.

Explains senior auctioneer, Wilf Mould: “Every Monday customers bring items in for free, no obligation valuation, assessment and sale by the general valuation team. Now customers with more specialist items will be able to arrange private appointments with one of our experts on Fridays.”

The next Antiques and Fine Art auction at Silverwoods takes place on Thursday 27th October and, appropriately, features a special selection of Militaria, bidding for which will be live on the internet for keen collectors worldwide.

Viewing for the burgeoning weekly antiques, collectables and household sale at Silverwoods starts every Wednesday at 9.00, with the sale itself now getting underway at an earlier time of 12.00. Visit to find out more.
