16th September Catalogue and Rediscovery sales

We had a very busy week this week, with great results in both the Rediscovery and Fine Art Catalogue sale, including this reproduction oak chest on stand which made £280, many sovereigns, a good silver tray, several good rings including one at £1,400... something for everyone. We had a good crowd who were supporting us by following safety advice and, of course, by keeping their hands in the air. Government announcements are seemingly constant but nothing has been said to stop our auctions, so we will be taking in for both sales as normal next week and we are looking forward to a good Rediscovery sale next wednesday.

September Rural & Domestic Bygones

Our next Rural and Domestic Bygones sale is now on our website and you will be able to start bidding at 9:00 on the 17th ~ its a timed auction which you will be able to view Wednesday the 16th and Thursday 17th, 9:00-4:00. A great variety from this fantastic earthenware water trough to fishing tackle, galvanized ware and garden planters to copper ware. This is along side our Fine Art Catalogue sale (also on our website and The Saleroom)  and our weekly Rediscovery sale (catalogue available Tuesday afternoon), plenty for you to come a look at.... and bid for.

12th August Rediscovery sale

A busy sale this week, with our new Luncheon Wagon in attendance keeping buyers refreshed on a hot August day. While miscellaneous box lots are struggling to find buyers, the unusual and good quality does well ~ we had a good pair of Art & Crafts brass lamps which made £190 and a Royal Doulton Lipzander in flambe glaze which took £85. Small antique safes always do well and this week one made £170. Next week is especially busy as its our Fine Art Sale too; you can view both sales on Tuesday afternoon and the morning of the sale and the Fine Art Sale is on the-saleroom.com to view and bid. Keeping everyone safe with current conditions is a challenge but we thank our customers for being careful.

Fine Art Sale 8th July

In our Fine Art Sale on the 8th July we had a Mouseman Thompson table and chairs which did well. We're delighted to say that we have the contents of a house clearance with a large collection of 'Acorn-man' furniture. Some has already sold ~ we put a desk and chair into the Rediscovery sale on the 22nd where it made £700 ~ the remainder of the collection is in our sale on the 19th August. We have high hopes: like Mouseman its in the Arts & Crafts style and beautifully built from solid oak (though we've also sold a mahogany bedroom suite). Alan 'Acorn-man' Grainger was one of several craftsmen apprenticed to Robert Thompson, all of whom had their own marks ~ Lizzardman, Gnomeman, Foxman, Beaverman.... to name a few. Keep an eye out for our catalogue in early August on our website and the-saleroom.com.

Fine Art Sale 19th August

Our next Fine Art Catalogue sale is on the 19th August. We've already taken in a good selection of items and the sale is still open for entries. Come in on Monday between 9:00-3:00 or make an appointment to see one of the team on Friday. We have good practice in place to keep staff and customers safe and the market is buoyant.
